“Literary Arts” – November 6 – December 4, 2018
Two of Sandy’s paintings (and her books) are included in Talisman Gallery‘s Literary Arts Exhibition. Each painting responds to a haiku.
Shown at right:
Left: “About to Be” (acrylic on canvas) responding to the haiku by Natsume Sosaki: “The lamp once out / Cool stars enter / The window frame.” (translated by Soiku Shigematsu). My words, bordering the sunflower bud, say: “Just because / we can’t see it / doesn’t mean / it isn’t there”.
Right: Banquet (acrylic on canvas) responding to my haiku: “Just when I thought I’d / had it, the sunflower bowed / to the chickadee”
Sandy began showing her visual art on Pender Island in 2013. Since then, her work has been included in various local exhibitions as well as in juried shows in Ladysmith and Victoria. Please visit the Exhibitions page for more information.
