I've always been drawn to old and crumbling structures. Possibly that goes back to my childhood in New Brunswick, when we kids spent a lot of time playing around four variously tilting concrete walls between the main railway track and a spur line on the Tantramar. Some years ago, friends and I wandered around Murray Corner and Cape Tormentine, photographing fallen barns and empty weathered cottages. My attraction to the abandoned is the inspiration behind these paintings, some directly connected to the New Brunswick landscape, others to Pender Island where I now live.
