- Founded BC's Poetry in Transit program (which has been recognized with a Literary Location on Alan Twigg's Literary Map of BC) and coordinated the project for its first three years (1995 - 1998)

Served on various awards juries, including for the 2016 Governor General's Literary Award for poetry

Served on the West Coast Book Prizes Society Board for two years (1993 - 1995)

Hosted the annual Favourite Poems event, Pender Island Public Library, for five years (2015 - 2019)

Founding member of the first Mayworks Festivals in Vancouver, BC (1987 - 1989)

Founded, with Kate Braid and Jane Eaton Hamilton, the feminist group Sex, Death and Madness, which met for more than 10 years to discuss issues of importance to women artists and writers

Founded, with Kate Braid and others, the Compossibles poetry circle, which met for many years on the solstice and equinox discuss poets and their works.
