For the Birds Triptych

For the Birds began with a desire to paint something whimsical. I decided on a palette of bold colours and mainly flattened, geometric shapes; from there I relied on intuition. Working on paper, what emerged was a study featuring abstracted birds – no doubt inspired by the birds that surround me at home and on my walks. Transferring the concept to larger panels meant altering the designs, which made the process more challenging and more interesting.
