Oil and cold wax on wood panel, 30" x 24", unframed
At first I thought it odd, working on Catch Me if You Can, a painting so clearly lighthearted and joyful, when I was approaching two and a half years of living with cancer. But as I played with shapes and movement, it occurred to me that I had good reason to celebrate. I was handling the medications well, living my life the way I want. Cancer? Stage 4? Really? I rarely even felt particularly ill. So, in the face of a dire diagnosis, I found – and find – myself grabbing life by the shirt tails and dancing with it while I can, cherishing every happy moment I’m given.
