The choices we make are usually so routine we don’t give them a second thought. But sometimes, coming to a decision can be surprisingly difficult. When I painted Balancing Act I was trying to decide whether to take a suggested cancer-related medication, in addition to what I was already on. I went back and forth, over and over again, weighing its potential benefits against some of its quite scary, if uncommon, risks.
